CBE Plans Independence Commemorative
The Central Bank of Eswatini (CBE) has launched a nationwide competition inviting citizens to design a special 10 emalangeni (E) limited-edition circulating commemorative coin marking the 60th anniversary of the Kingdom of Eswatini's independence, which falls on 6 September 2028.
Participants are required to design the reverse of the coin, incorporating themes related to the Kingdom, independence, and the anniversary milestone. Entries must be original works and applicants must confirm that their designs have not been created or substantially developed using artificial intelligence.
The winning design will form the basis of a commemorative coin intended to celebrate Eswatini's independence, national identity, cultural heritage, and future aspirations.
In addition to recognising artistic talent, the initiative aims to promote financial literacy and investment. Rather than cash awards, the prizes will be issued as government investment instruments, with the first prize valued at E100,000, followed by second and third prizes worth E30,000 and E20,000 respectively.
